The Bambino class of 2024 is growing and drawing attention from Cape Town’s karting enthusiasts. Among the contenders are some familiar names, including Radhi Harris, Caleb Lingeveldt and Ebrahim Khalpey all regulars poised for top results on Saturday.

Adding to the excitement are newcomers Aleena Doutie and Divaaj Govender, making their first competitive appearances, along with Ashlyn Beaumont eagerly awaiting her first kart race. Seeing new Bambino faces adds a fresh dynamic to the grid and their progress will be watched with great anticipation.

MICRO MAX

Get ready for thunderous excitement as Rotax Micro Max takes centre stage at Killarney Raceway once again this weekend. Leading the charge is none other than the reigning champion, Michael O’Mahoney, determined to bounce back after settling for 2nd in Round 1. However, he’ll face stiff competition from formidable opponents like Round 1 winner Liam Wharton, along with seasoned campaigners Jayden van der Merwe and Slater Smith, both equipped with enough experience and eager to challenge for the top spot this weekend. Next up, Mia Hermanus continues to improve with each outing and her determination to compete among the best is evident.

As the excitement builds, keep an eye on Qaanit Doutie as he prepares for his second Micro Max race, while Bambino star Yaqeen Gamieldien steps up to the 125cc power of the Rotax Micro Max class.

MINI ROK

Prepare for a thrilling shake-up in the Mini Rok category as Killarney Raceway welcomes a few of out-of-town drivers eager to test their mettle on the local circuit.

Aaron Mason stands as a hometown favourite, determined to outshine his local rivals Aadiv Singh and Logan Roehrig on their home turf along with class rookie Jose Slamet. They will have Alanzo Diaz and Noah Cronje from the Northern Regions joining the fray. Additionally, Zeph Hair brings a fresh perspective as a new contender on the grid, greeted with a warm WPMC welcome.

MINI MAX

Prepare for an action-packed showdown as Rotax Mini Max revs up for an exhilarating weekend of racing. Leading the charge are the formidable duo of Aiden Beaumont and Michael Danks, determined to maintain their stellar performance this season. However, they’ll face stiff competition from the likes of Ruan Lewis, Zac Hindley and Zach McAuley, all showcasing impressive form in 2024.

Adding to the excitement are the Boshoff brothers, Max and Zac, making the leap to Mini Max. With their talent, they’re eager to make their mark and secure a strong finish this weekend.

Rookie Andrew Retter continues to impress, quickly adapting to the challenges of top-level racing. His progress is evident. Joining the ranks are newcomers Zion Hair and Hugo Aggett, both eager for their inaugural regional karting race day experience.

OKJ

OKJ promises a fierce battle as Reese Koorzen, William Marshall, and Aaron Mason gear up to hunt for wins this weekend. With their exceptional speed and talent, expect a closely contested race at the front of the pack.

 

Don’t overlook Manelisi Nkomo, who demonstrated a strong performance at the first regional event and aims to carry that momentum forward, while Matthew Chiwara is eager to bounce back from a challenging race day earlier in the season, determined to show his speed and racing ability.

Exciting prospects Aleksandar Praizovic and Max Denisov are hungry for success and will be pushing hard for a favourable result come Saturday. Additionally, Onwabile Mcinga joins the grid for this weekend’s event.

 

JUNIOR MAX

Junior Max features a compact yet exceptionally talented lineup all set for an intense day of racing. Spearheading the pack are seasoned frontrunners Jordon Wadeley and Keagan Beaumont, with Wadeley clinching the Regional win at round 1 and Beaumont eager to make a comeback this weekend.

Challenging them on Saturday is Nicholas Lennox, who has been in outstanding form recently, alongside the formidable duo of Sebastiano Human and Anwill April. Adding to the mix is Eastern Cape speedster Caleb Moss, ready to make his mark in the Junior Max battle this weekend.

SENIOR MAX

Senior Max boasts an impressive lineup of renowned names and exceptional talent. Leading the pack is 2023 Polo Cup Champion Charl Visser, who asserted his dominance in the opening Regional event. Expect him to face stiff competition from National Killarney winner Luca Wehrli and the ever-consistent Tate Bishop.

Anticipate further battle at the front this weekend as Senior Max rookie Ethan Deacon challenges the more seasoned drivers. In the thick of the action will be F1600 driver Storm Lanfear and the consistently rapid Cole Hewetson.

Never underestimate the potential of top performances from Jude Stuart, Zac Laden, or Gabriele Gazzilli, all determined to leave their mark on the track with strong showings this weekend. Senior Max promises edge-of-your-seat excitement and thrilling racing action.

DD2 & DD2 MASTERS

Rotax DD2 is packed with impressive racing talents. Once again this weekend sees a formidable lineup of drivers ready to do battle.

At the forefront of the action are experienced duo Sebastian Boyd and Joseph Oelz, both well-versed in the art of winning races. With a notable absence of Jason Coetzee from the entry list, the battle for victory is likely to be a fierce showdown between these two drivers. However, newcomers Ethan Stier and Matthew Wadeley cannot be overlooked, as they have already demonstrated impressive pace and are poised to challenge for top honours as they gain more experience.

In DD2 Masters, all eyes will be on Jared Jordan, Roy Gruer, and Conor Hughes. Meanwhile, Neville Chapman, Marco Viegas, and Andrew Thomas get their first taste of regional karting this season and a surprise last-minute entry from the highly experience Johan Hamman will surely spice things up.
