HOT SPRING REGIONAL RACING PUTS ON A SHOW AT KILLARNEY

It was an incredibly hot day at Killarney Kart Track for Round 7 of the 2024 Western Province Kart Championships, with temperatures soaring as high as the tension on track. The relentless heat laid down thick rubber on the circuit, forcing drivers and teams to tweak their setups to keep up with the ever-changing conditions. Despite the challenges, the action across all classes was nothing short of spectacular, with wheel-to-wheel battles and thrilling overtakes defining a day of intense racing. Every championship contender knew that this was a crucial round, and they delivered a show to remember!

BAMBINO

Coming into Round 7, Radhi Harris was determined to close the gap on his championship rival Caleb Lingeveldt, and he wasted no time in showing his intent. Harris stormed to a commanding pole position in qualifying, outpacing Lingeveldt by nearly seven-tenths of a second, setting the stage for a thrilling day of racing in the scorching heat.

In Race 1, Harris drove away from the pack, leaving his rivals to scrap for the remaining podium spots. Lingeveldt found himself under immense pressure from Aleena Doutie, who had his sights set on second. The battle was fierce, with Lingeveldt barely holding onto P2 by a tenth of a second at the line, just ahead of a hard-charging Doutie.

Race 2 followed a similar pattern, with Harris once again pulling away from the field with blistering pace. However, this time it was Doutie who edged out Lingeveldt for second place, crossing the line narrowly ahead of his rival who had to settle for third.

Harris completed a perfect weekend by taking another dominant win in Race 3, making it three victories from three races. Behind him, the fight for second intensified as Lehan Fourie, Lingeveldt, and Doutie went wheel-to-wheel. Fourie emerged victorious in the battle for P2, while Lingeveldt, struggling to find his previous pace, held onto third, with Doutie right on his tail in fourth.

With pole position and three race wins, Harris took a clean sweep for the weekend, doing his championship hopes a world of good. Heading into the final round, Lingeveldt, who finished second overall, will need to overcome his struggles and rediscover the form that carried him earlier in the season if he wants to challenge Harris for the title. Doutie rounded out the podium in third overall, ahead of Lehan Fourie, Ashlyn Beaumont, and Emelee Adriaans, all of whom put in solid performances in a fantastic day of Bambino racing.
