RECORD NUMBER OF ENTRIES FOR 2025 WPMC KARTING OPENER

The 2025 Western Province Karting season is here, and it’s shaping up to be an electrifying showdown as a record-breaking grid of drivers kicks off their championship campaigns this weekend at Killarney International Raceway’s Karting Section for Round 1. With stacked entry lists across multiple classes, the pressure is on to lay down an early marker when the lights go out on Saturday morning.

BAMBINO

As expected, Bambino sees a fresh wave of young talent eager to make their mark, mixed with some familiar names looking to put their experience to good use. Expect the likes of Divaaj Govender, Emelee Adriaans, Ashlyn Beaumont, and Aleena Doutie to be in the thick of the front-end battle, while newcomers Rofhiwa Ndwambi and Ryder Roehrig gear up for their first taste of regional competition.

MICRO MAX

Micro Max is set for a thrilling 2025 season, with a dynamic mix of rising stars and proven talent ready to shake things up. Former Bambino standouts Radhi Harris and Caleb Lingeveldt will be ones to watch, alongside Michael O’Mahoney and Logan Roehrig. Slater Smith, Yaqeen Gamieldien, Jake Steyn, and Zeph Hair all impressed last season and will be looking to make their presence felt once again. Keep an eye on Ebrahim Khalpey, Mia Hermanus, and Bambino graduate Lehan Fourie, while the class also welcomes Gauteng’s Luhan de Wet and Namibia’s Ned Hannam to the action-packed grid.

MINI ROK

Mini Rok is shaping up to be a thriller, with a mix of familiar front-runners ready to battle it out once again. Radhi Harris returns for 2025 alongside proven contenders Max Boshoff, Logan Roehrig, Jose Slamet, and Zac Boshoff, all eager to stake their claim at the sharp end. Adding to the challenge, the local stars will have to fend off upcountry charger Alanzo Dias. Expect close-quarters racing and plenty of fireworks in this one.

MINI MAX

A stacked 16-kart grid is set to ignite the Rotax Mini Max battle this weekend. Defending champion Max Boshoff won’t have it easy as he faces stiff competition from last year’s Micro Max titleholder Liam Wharton, alongside a host of front-running talent including Jayden van der Merwe, Kiyaan Reddi, and Jose Slamet. Keep an eye on Zac Boshoff, Ruhan Victor, Lwashu Mathebula, Zach McAuley, Qaanit Doutie, and Zion Hair, who will be looking to shake things up. Meanwhile, fresh faces Christian Naidoo, Matthew Naidoo, Justin Milleskie, Joburg’s Alonso Dias, and Namibia’s Milan Fischer add even more firepower to an already explosive grid.

OKJ

OKJ is set for a thrilling shake-up as last year’s front-runners welcome a mix of experienced challengers and fresh faces to the grid. Onwabile Mcinga and Aleksandar Praizovic will have their hands full with a fired-up Ethan Lennon, while Zimvo Majova is sure to be in the thick of the action. Talented newcomer Michael Danks makes his debut in the class, with Ruan Lewis also poised to be a serious contender. But the Cape drivers will have to keep a close eye on the blisteringly quick Gianna Pascoal, while newcomers Zuan, Jordan Klaasen, and Emile van der Wateren look to make an impact in their first outing.

JUNIOR MAX

Junior Max is stacked with talent, setting the stage for an intense weekend of racing. Local stars Sebastiano Human, Nicholas Lennox, and Aiden Beaumont will have their hands full as they go wheel-to-wheel with heavy hitters like Tshepang Shisinwana, Emma Dowling, Caleb Moss, Manelisi Nkomo, and Troy Pieterse— all established names in South African karting. Raffaele Musso steps up for his Junior Max debut, while seasoned contenders Sebastien Blignaut and Ashaan Reddi return to the mix. Keep an eye on newcomer Lulama Ngobeni, who will be eager to make a strong first impression.

Sebastien Blignaut

SENIOR MAX

Senior Max is shaping up to be the must-watch showdown of the weekend, with an 18-kart grid stacked with talent. Local front-runners Luca Wehrli and Jude Stuart will be looking to pick up right where they left off last season, but they’ll have no shortage of competition. Junior Max graduates and champions Keagan Beaumont, Jordon Wadeley, and William Marshall are set to shake things up, while a strong contingent of traveling drivers adds even more firepower to the mix. Expect the likes of Gianna Pascoal, Jonno Wilson, Georgia Lenaerts, Kian Spies, Kent Swartz, Jesse Swart, and Mikel Bezuidenhout to be right in the thick of it, with Namibia’s Kian Fussell making the long trip down to join the fray. Meanwhile, newcomers Vatiswa Mokhonoana, Matthew Carter, Tristan Botha, Ghaniem Slamet, and Reece Ward will be eager to make their mark in one of the most competitive grids of the season.

DD2 & DD2 MASTERS

Premier Rotax Racing DD2 is stacked with talent, promising an all-out battle at the sharp end. Expect Sebastian Boyd, Joseph Oelz, Jason Coetzee, and Matthew Wadeley to go wheel-to-wheel in the fight for victory, with Ethan Stier right in the mix. Anwil April makes the bold leap from Junior Max and will be eager to prove himself, while Tony Auby and Namibia’s Nikita Thieme add even more depth to an already competitive field.

In DD2 Masters, it’s game on as some of the biggest names in the class prepare to clash with the local stars. Defending champion Jared Jordan will have his hands full as he takes on his brother Michael and the vastly experienced Jonathan Pieterse. Neville Chapman and Johan Hamman bring plenty of firepower to the grid, while newcomer Jimmy Auby will be keen to make his presence felt.

WP CLUBMANS

WP Clubmans is set to deliver top-tier club racing action this weekend, with a grid packed full of experience and fresh talent. All eyes will be on seasoned legends Sean Le Riche and Guy Lanfear as they prepare for what could be a battle for the ages, with Andy Wehrli adding an extra layer of spice to the veteran showdown. Meanwhile, Christopher Flack, PJ Garbutt, Jade Smith, and Charlie Millar return for another season of hard-fought racing.
