EXPECT TIGHT BATTLES AS NUMEROUS WPMC KARTING TITLES ALL REST ON SATURDAY’S LAST REGIONAL ACTION OF 2024
This weekend, 2 stroke kart engines will roar one last time as the 2024 Western Province Kart Championships reach a thrilling end at Killarney Raceway! While most of the championship titles may already be sewn up, there are still a few battles left to settle as the season draws to a close. But don’t be fooled – titles or not, every driver this weekend has something to prove. For some, it’s a chance to cap off a championship year in style; for others, it’s all about sending a fierce reminder of what they’re capable of before the off-season ahead. With reputations on the line and no pressure to hold back, expect some high-stakes racing and maybe even a little contact here and there. It’s the last dance of 2024 at Killarney Karts, and the Cape’s best are ready to leave it all on the track. This final round promises to be nothing short of epic – a fitting close to an unforgettable season of karting action!
BAMBINO
In Bambino, the title showdown couldn’t be tighter – it’s anyone’s guess between Radhi Harris and Caleb Lingeveldt for the 2024 crown! Harris rolls into the final with serious momentum after snagging three wins at Round 7, but Lingeveldt is no pushover; he’s a gritty competitor who’ll dig deep to wrestle that championship from Harris’s grasp. Meanwhile, Aleena Doutie looks fairly secure in third, but don’t think she’ll ease up – and Ashlyn Beaumont, sporting her signature pink-and-black suit, is out for a strong finish that could shake up the order. Lehan Fourie, still early in his career but already a name to watch, has his eyes set on the podium and won’t back down easily. And then there’s Divaaj Govender, fresh off a confidence-boosting win last time out, hungry to make a lasting impression in his season finale. Emelee Adriaans completes the lineup, ready to mix it up in Saturday’s Bambino showdown. Expect some serious wheel-to-wheel battles as these young chargers put it all on the line.

MICRO MAX
It’s all on the line in Micro Max, where the 2024 title fight is set to still be dedcided. Liam Wharton may hold the upper hand after a consistently strong season, but Michael O’Mahoney isn’t backing down – he’ll be pushing hard to cause an upset. Right behind the title fight, Jayden van der Merwe has put in a rock-solid season, holding firm in third, though Ruhan Victor and Yaqeen Gamieldien will be looking to spoil the party. Both have flashed race-winning pace at times and are itching to make their mark before the season’s end. Keep an eye on Jake Steyn and Slater Smith too; these two have the speed to make things interesting. Meanwhile, a tense battle brews between Mia Hermanus and Qaanit Doutie as they’re set for another close fight. Gauteng’s Adriaan Steyn adds a fresh dynamic to the mix, along with newcomer Max Garcia. With everyone bringing their A-game to Killarney, the Micro Max finale is set to be a nail-biter.

MINI ROK
Logan Roehrig is all but ready to seal the deal on the 2024 WP Mini ROK title after a dominant season behind the wheel, but don’t think for a second that he’s going to have an easy ride to the crown. Jose Slamet, hungry for an upset, will be gunning for his chance to spoil the party, while Max Boshoff, fresh off a triple win last time out, is poised to throw his hat in the ring. Aadiv Singh, who’s had his share of highs and lows this season, will be out to finish strong and remind everyone of his potential. Meanwhile, the rivalry between good mates Radhi Harris and Ebrahim Khalpey continues to heat up, with both pushing each other to the limit as they look for a strong finish. And don’t count out Zac Boshoff – expect him to be in and around the podium as this Mini ROK showdown promises to deliver plenty of thrills.

MINI MAX
In Mini Max, all eyes will be on Max Boshoff, the champion-elect who’s been on a tear all season. But while he’s favored for the title, he’ll need a flawless day to officially lock it down – any slip-ups, and the door opens for a fierce pack waiting in the wings. The fight for P2 is set to be electric, with Zac Hindley, Michael Danks, and Ruan Lewis all gunning for glory and no one willing to give an inch. Expect fireworks as these three bring everything they’ve got to the season’s climax. Meanwhile, Zach McAuley and Zac Boshoff are out for redemption in this final race, and they’ll be pushing the limits to end their season with a bang. Adding to the intensity, Hugo Aggett is back for more Mini Max action, joined by rising stars Michael O’Mahoney stepping up from Micro Max and Jose Slamet moving in from Mini ROK. With fresh talent and fierce rivalries in play, Mini Max is primed for a high-stakes showdown that could go any direction.

OKJ
The battle for the 2024 Mini OKJ title is on and Manelisi Nkomo is in prime position to clinch the crown. But Aleksander Praizovic has made sure this title race has never been easy, and he’s ready to push Nkomo to the very last lap. Onwabile Mcinga, comfortably sitting in third, is coming off a stellar weekend with two race wins and is hungry to make a statement as he heads into the off-season. Rayan Karriem, who joined the fray midway through the season, has already shown his race-winning caliber and will be out for podiums and victories this weekend. Don’t discount the international flair of William Marshall, a driver who’s always in the hunt for the top step, while Tony Aubey and Tristan Botha round out a competitive grid that’s sure to bring fireworks as the season finale plays out.

JUNIOR MAX
The 2024 Junior Max title fight is there for the taking for Keagan Beaumont who holds the upper hand, but he’ll need a flawless performance across three races to seal the deal this weekend. Sebastiano Human and Jordan Wadeley are both primed to pounce and have been making life difficult for Beaumont all season long – one slip-up, and either of them could snatch the crown at the very last. As the title battle intensifies, these three are sure to be giving it everything they’ve got, all with eyes firmly set on the win. Meanwhile, Nicholas Lennox and Anwill April, having had solid seasons, will be pushing for a strong finish, and with a bit of luck, they could even find themselves standing on the podium at the year-end prizegiving. Aiden Beaumont, continuing to find his rhythm in Junior Max, will want to end his season on a high, while Matthew Carter, who joined mid-season, is hungry to show what he’s capable of in his final run. Junior Max will be a clash of talent this weekend.

SENIOR MAX
It’s all systems go in Senior Max as six incredibly talented drivers line up for what promises to be a thrilling conclusion to the 2024 season. Charl Visser, who has dominated the victory tally all year long, is on the verge of wrapping up yet another Western Province title – but he won’t have it easy. Luca Wehrli is ready to bring the fight, and the pair are set for an epic battle as they look to lock horns for the win. Meanwhile, Ethan Deacon has shown he’s got the pace to mix it up with the best and will be pushing hard for a top-three finish in the championship, but he’ll have to fend off the challenge from quality drivers like Jude Stuart and last-time-out winner Tate Bishop. Don’t count out Cole Hewetson either – making a welcome return, he’ll be right in the mix for the win as well. With so many talented drivers on the grid, this one’s shaping up to be a tight showdown that’s sure to entertain the crowds throughout the day.

DD2 & DD2 MASTERS
The DD2 class is set to deliver plenty of drama this weekend as the title battle continues to unfold. With series leader Joseph Oelz missing from the entry list, it opens the door for others to capitalize on the opportunity – though, theoretically, if Oelz drops this round, he will still maintain the points lead. But let’s focus on the action at hand: Jason Coetzee, in top form, will be the man to beat, but with Matthew Wadeley and Ethan Stier sitting second and third in the standings, both will be fiercely determined to throw a wrench in his plans and make a serious run for the win. A name you might not be so familiar with is Shayur Harpal, returning to karting after several years away from the scene. It’ll be fascinating to see how he fares as he shakes off the rust and makes his comeback.
In DD2 Masters, the title fight is shaping up to be a nail-biter, with Jared Jordan holding a solid advantage, but Conor Hughes will not give up without a fight. With everything to race for, Hughes will be pushing hard to keep his title hopes alive. Meanwhile, Neville Chapman has shown flashes of brilliance this season, and if he’s on his game, he could very well shake up the podium spots. Eugene Clark will need to keep a close eye on the rapidly improving Jonathan Wiehan, as both drivers are more than capable of putting in a standout performance. Rounding out the grid are Johan Hamman and Andrew Thomas, both ready to make their presence felt as the weekend’s battles unfold. The stakes couldn’t be higher in the premier class.

WP CLUBMANS
The Clubmans class is set to entertain across the Gold and Silver classes, and it’s shaping up to be good one. In the Gold class, Sean Le Riche has been the model of consistency throughout the season and is now primed to claim the Gold title – but it won’t be a walk in the park. Zimvo Majova and Christopher Flack are locked in a fierce battle for second in the standings, and both will be giving it their all to secure the best possible result. Among the exciting entries, we’ve got a whole host of talent, including the lightning-fast lady racers Gabi and Jade Lanfear, Polo Cup’s rookie of the season Kyle Visser, and regular front-runner Andre Le Riche. But don’t discount the likes of Charlie Millar, Raffaele Musso, Matthew Carter, and Reece Ward – all drivers who have the potential to shake up the order and cause some serious upset. Rounding out the Gold grid is Ghaniem Slamet, who will want to make a mark before the end of the season.
Over in the Silver class, Christopher Flack holds a comfortable lead in the standings but will be keen to finish the season on a high by getting the better of his rivals, including Jade Smith, Alex Le Pelley, and PJ Garbutt. It’s all to play for as the Silver competitors push for the best possible finish and close out what’s been an action-packed season.
